About: Berkshire Hathaway is a holding company with a wide array of subsidiaries engaged in diverse activities. The firm's core business segment is insurance, run primarily through Geico, Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance Group, and Berkshire Hathaway Primary Group. Berkshire has used the excess cash thrown off from these and its other operations over the years to acquire Burlington Northern Santa Fe (railroad), Berkshire Hathaway Energy (utilities and energy distributors), and the companies that make up its manufacturing, service, and retailing operations (which include five of Berkshire's largest noninsurance pretax earnings generators: Precision Castparts, Lubrizol, Clayton Homes, Marmon, and IMC/ISCAR). The conglomerate is unique in that it is run on a completely decentralized basis.

If You Bought 1 Share of Berkshire Hathaway When It Joined the New York Stock Exchange, Here's How Many Shares You Would Own Now
Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A 1.37%) (BRK.B 0.86%) has roots dating back to the 19th century, but its modern legacy took shape when Warren Buffett took control in 1965. Under Buffett's leadership, the struggling textile company transformed into a conglomerate spanning industries like insurance, energy, and consumer goods.

Warren Buffett Is Buying Again – But There's A Big Catch This Time
Long-time investors and Warren Buffett mavens are familiar with his quote, “His favorite holding for an S&P 500 stock is forever”, so it's not surprising to report that for all of the success and stature Berkshire Hathaway has in the investment world, 7 top companies make up almost 75% of the funds' total holdings.

Stock Buybacks Outperform Dividends: Here's the Key Advantage
When investors consider the benefits of investing in a stock, they usually only consider the basic level of capital appreciation and dividend payouts. After all, this is what is largely covered in the mainstream financial media and what is talked about at the proverbial cocktail parties, with people bragging about their dividend yield or how much their stock just went up.

Prediction: Warren Buffett Will Sell All of His Apple Stock in 2025
Apple (AAPL -2.14%) has been one of Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.A -1.96%) (BRK.B -1.99%) most successful investments. However, there comes a time to move on from an investment, and I think Warren Buffett and his team are set up to do that in 2025.

Bill Ackman likes to focus on just a few companies at a time. His hedge fund, Pershing Square Capital, invests in high-quality businesses with stocks that Ackman feels have become mispriced relative to their intrinsic value.

Berkshire Hathaway For Dividend Investors: My Favorite Buffett Dividend Stock
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway doesn't pay dividends because Buffett believes his team allocates capital better than individual investors could. Dividend investors seek reliable cash flows for retirement, preferring stocks with significant dividends, combining attractive yields and growth rates. Here are some of my favorite stocks, including one which is a great buy today.
