2 Tactics For Income Investors To Shield Their Spending Power
Rising inflation and yield curve normalization are creating new market risks, making it unlikely for the Fed to cut interest rates soon. Duration-heavy asset classes like bonds and REITs will likely remain depressed, posing risks to passive income investors and retirees. Inflation erodes spending power, necessitating the inclusion of inflation-protected securities in portfolios to mitigate longevity risk.

Fire And Ice
US equity markets tumbled this week while benchmark interest rates surged to the cusp of multi-decade highs after a critical slate of employment data showed surprisingly buoyant labor market trends. Prompting a hawkish re-think of Fed policy expectations, inflation worries were further inflamed by surging energy prices amid frigid temperatures across the Central and East, while L.A. battled destructive wildfires. Real estate equities - the most rate-sensitive sector - were significant laggards this week as rate cut expectations soured, with REITs extending their year-end slide into early 2025.

Why REIT Struggles Now Could Lead To Big Gains: Lessons From A Billionaire Investor
REITs are so cheap that they are getting the attention of billionaires. Legendary investor Barry Sternlicht is loading up on REITs. We discuss what he is buying and why.

A Dozen Stocks I'm Buying As Rising Interest Rates Break The Market
Interest rate peaks often cause short-term S&P 500 selloffs, especially for REITs. I retain hope that REITs may decouple from 10-year Treasury yields once rates stabilize. Baby Boomers' economic impact is profound, influencing inflation, wages, and consumption patterns, with Millennials having a smaller effect at later ages in life. Debating whether dividend growth investors should buy Magnificent 7 stocks, I find GOOGL compelling for its reasonable valuation and growth potential.

11 Upcoming Dividend Increases, Including A Dividend King
Hormel Foods extends its 52-year dividend streak with a 2.6% increase; the group averages a 5.9% increase, median 5.8%. My strategy focuses on buying, holding, and adding to companies with consistent dividend growth and outperforming benchmarks. I use data from the "U.S. Dividend Champions" spreadsheet and NASDAQ to identify companies with at least five years of dividend growth.

Very Bad News For Dividend Stocks
Dividend stocks boomed from early July 2024 to late November 2024. However, since then, they have pulled back sharply. I discuss the bad news that may continue weighing on many dividend stocks.

Sector Spotlight: Multifamily REITs - They Survived Until 2025!
COVID-19 led to a migration to Sunbelt cities, causing a surge in apartment rents and subsequent overbuilding, which is now stabilizing. Multifamily REITs saw a decline in valuations but are now modestly valued with a P/AFFO multiple averaging 18.3x, higher than the broader REIT market. Despite suppressed rent growth and occupancy, strong job markets and reduced new supply suggest the potential for landlords to regain pricing power.
