RFV: High Risk, High Reward Strategy For Pure Value Investors
RFV is a high-risk, high-reward play on mid-cap value stocks. Historically, it's delivered excellent returns compared to most peers, but is very difficult to predict. For those able to tolerate the risk, I suggest taking a long-term view and be prepared for short-term underperformance, as drawdowns can be substantial. Currently, RFV ranks among the best in the mid-cap category on value, but the worst on growth, quality, and sentiment. Along with weak diversification, year-to-year results should be inconsistent.
